A Brief History of Rio Hondo

Rio Hondo sits on the site of a former vegetable field that was part of Marshburn Farms. Mr. Marshburn developed the surrounding neighborhood to provide housing to returning GI's after WWII. He also donated the land north of the school to have the Friends' Church built. His house was located on the corner of Live Oak and Lenore, it burned down and an apartment building was placed there.
