Subject: Returning to School on Monday, January 13
Dear EMCSD Community,
These past few days have been indescribable. The images we have seen and the extensive damage to our neighboring communities throughout LA County have brought so many emotions to many of us. Our hearts go out to all those affected by these wildfires, and we offer our empathy and compassion to everyone impacted. Below this message are some resources compiled by Los Angeles County Office of Education for those affected, as well as resources on how you can talk to your children about the recent events.
School for all grade levels, including Head Start, will resume on Monday, January 13, as planned. Our counselors will be available to support students who may experience different emotions about the events over the last few days.
We want to remind everyone that all schools will still be on early-release schedule the following days (these days were previously planned):
- Monday, January 13
- Tuesday, January 14
- Wednesday, January 15
Dismissal times for the days listed above:
- TK & Kindergarten will be dismissed at 11:20am
- 1st - 8th grade will be dismissed at 11:30am
- After-school programs will continue as planned for those with students in LEARN
- Head Start will follow their regular schedule
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership, we look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow,
Dr. Maribel Garcia
Superintendent
