Rio Hondo School is proud to offer a well-rounded education to every student. We are a Kindergarten through eighth grade campus serving students within the El Monte City School District.
Kindergarten through sixth grade students are scheduled in self-contained classes taught by highly qualified teachers. Student learning in these grades is further supported by classroom instructional aides, a librarian, a media technology specialist, as well as an itinerant music teacher and parent volunteers.
At the middle school level our basic classes (English, math, history, science, etc.) are supplemented by a variety of elective courses. Our award winning choir and band highlight the arts department. College and career readiness are furthered with the AVID courses offered to seventh and eighth grade students. Industrial Technology, which teaches woodworking and applied science skills, is also an elective offering.
Students’ interests are developed through participation in a variety of campus action teams. Various action teams enrich the students’ educational experience by emphasizing leadership, drama, literature, and athletic opportunities.
